Thoughts on 36 (2012)
A story told in 36 shots.
I swear Nawapol just chooses topics that are so identifiable and ephemeral and presents them in such essayish and prose-like manner, so much is said and suggested with so little
The static shots stand unmoving and picturesque in their framing, while the people within them are small, fleeting and captured not in their full essence, but as a suggestion of how they exist in that moment. Taking a picture of a moment really makes it last longer, but in what capacity?
Nawapol may just be one of my favorite directors at this point, practically every film I see of his makes me question the experiences I've gone through, and the spaces I inhabit
